One day left......the Animals are concerned!
Well at least Ginger was concerned....Bob on the other hand was relatively unaffected.
Suitcases being thrown about, the normal daily pattern broken up, last minute house cleaning. Ginger pretended to not notice, sprawled out on the sofa, but every time you walked by the eyes popped open and she tracked you as you walked across the room. We dropped her off at the doggy sitters, and she put up a strong front, but I could see her paws shaking.
I think Robyn's paws were shaking a bit too.
Bob gets the run of the house with some visitors feeding him, so he has nothing to shake about. Over the last month he brought us a few "gifts" from the great outdoors. We are hoping he is less generous while we are gone.
The big flight looms before us.
As it happens I have a set of drawings to review and a good book to read so other than going stir crazy I should be fine. Did I mention I got a window seat? Unlike Southwest Airlines where it is first come first serve, on United you pick your seat. It is a bone of contention in our family that I always wrestle to get a window seat. As a fan of aviation I love watching the take offs and landings and the control surfaces on the wing....I almost always sit right behind the wing so I can watch. In the interest of marital harmony I booked the window seat for Robyn on the way back.
Hopefully this guy doesn't show up!
Also got a taste of Big Brother in the Airline Industry when United gave me the option to scan my passport to check in from home......that sparked my interest!
"United Airlines wants permission to access your camera."
The software has an overlay that places a template for lining up your camera with your passport image and text line at the bottom. When you get it lined up just right, the camera takes the picture without you pushing the button. It looks like this.
Well I hope they fly the plane as well as they store my personal information.
Finally, sitting in a hotel on the 4th of July is a strange way to spend the night before you fly overseas. Hard to stir up your patriotism watching sitcoms and listening to fireworks in the distance, but if you need a dose....this video should do the trick. Just one person at the Lincoln Memorial who decided to sing her heart out.
Happy 4th of July!
